Kind of interesting accord, but definitely not universally appealing. This is a divine, old time scent that lasts all day. It will make you smell sophisticated and full of class.
It’s in the same vein as Quorum but comes off more classy and refined to me. You need to be an old school manly man to wear this. I actually find the smell offensive, and I don’t like it, which is exactly the desired effect I think. It bursts my millennial safe space bubble for sure. The strongest note here for me is tobacco, and the performance is decent. For me, this is an easy fragrance to love.
It can be worn by anyone who can carry off the masculine feel. Because I had smelled this before and didn’t realize I would recognize it, my first recent application ralph lauren t shirt felt like surrealistic time traveling to childhood. Even though newer versions are weaker, the rich leathery pine smell is still classic and classy.
On the initial spray you definitely get the pine and the patchouli, almost overwhelming. As it dries down you keep some of the “forest-y” smell from the pine, but the “green” smell dies down and evolves into tobacco notes. As a result I get a “grandpa’s humidor” vibe after the first couple hours. It’s very green, very woody, and there’s a heaping helping of leather and tobacco hanging out very presently to support those green notes.
Initially it’s a blast of pine, but that passes quickly, and then it’s straight up tobacco (to my nose, the wife says “pine”). I didn’t care for it at first, but with each ralph lauren t shirt successive wear, it’s wearing me down. I now find it intriguing and want to get to know it better. One spritz of this to the neck/chest lasts for a very long time.
