After serving at Pearl Harbor in the early 1950’s—where he was a member of both the U.S. Navy surf and swim teams—Hoffman began to sell tropical-print fabrics through his family’s textile business. Over time, Hoffman helped pioneer the popularity of the traditional “aloha” shirt, which eventually formed the foundation of modern surf wear. These aforementioned subjects have marked the heritage of the luxury fashion house.
I prefer this oldie more then the new popular fragrences of today. It’s a classic and it’s for a real man not a teeny weeny. If you want to smell like a real man wear this and if you don’t want to smell like a man wear what’s available today.
This scent still insinuates instant credibility and faux sophistication upon even the most banal and superficially unsophisticated older men. A work of art in its capturing of the alpine forest and a timeless classic original. Nobody should be without this one in their arsenal, as it simply has first rate longevity and character. One of the five most important colognes of the 20th century. Despite being overused and over-worn, still maintains its dignity. It’s not a timeless scent, it is a very specific to its time scent, and that time is gone .
The brushed finish accentuates the deep grey color of the metal. On the dial, the watch comes with several well-executed references to the game. They’re interesting Easter eggs for those in the know, but they’re also subtle enough to keep the timepiece from looking gimmicky.
Every time I purchased a bottle, I would be gifted Polo bags and other gifts . I still have several of those bags in the classic green canvas to this day. I used the canvas polo dress shirts briefcase for my first job out of college in 1984. The satchel bag I have still has the paper surrounding the shoulder strap tucked under the flap, and it looks brand new.
However, as I recall there was a sweet aspect to it back in the day. I have no idea what notes I smelled. I thought this might be one of those frags that I would take some time to enjoy, but I actually love this one on my initial testing. I haven’t worn it, but usually on skin, fragrances are even better so I’m gonna go ahead and say that I love it.
