In 1942, when Dior left the army, he joined the fashion house of Lucien Lelong, where he and Balmain were the primary designers. His sister, Catherine (1917–2008), served as a member of the French Resistance, was captured by the Gestapo, and sent to the Ravensbrück concentration camp, where she was incarcerated until her liberation in May 1945. In 1947, he named his debut fragrance, Miss Dior in tribute to his sister. In 1946 Marcel Boussac, a successful entrepreneur known as the richest man in France, invited Dior to design for Philippe et Gaston, a Paris fashion house launched in 1925. Dior refused, wishing to make a fresh start under his own name rather than reviving an old brand. On 8 December 1946, with Boussac’s backing, Dior founded his fashion house.

Initially, women protested because his designs covered up their legs, which they had been unused to because of the previous limitations on fabric. There was also some backlash to ‘s designs due to the amount of fabrics used in a single dress or suit. A Dior star has been fixed to the top of the building as a symbol of good luck from Monsieur Dior. Dior Miami will debut as the first boutique with the star installation in the U.S. The same symbol can also be found on top of Dior boutiques in Omotesando, Tokyo and Seoul, Korea. He heads up the Haute Couture, Fashion Furs, Women’s Ready-to-Wear, Ready-to-Wear and the Women’s Collection collections. Businessman Marcel Boussac integrates the new couture house into a textile business he already operates.

Estee Lauder makeup was born on January 21, 1905, in Granville, a seaside town in the north of France. He was the second of five children born to Alexandre Louis Maurice Dior, the owner of a highly successful fertilizer manufacturer, and his wife, Isabelle. When he was a boy, Dior’s family moved to Paris, where he would spend his youth. Celebrating both continents of Europe and Africa , his couture-conscious craftmanship was evident in gold dresses and diaphanous gold thread, with one fringe billowing down from a bag like in a fairy tale or Greek myth.

The style was named after Meghan’s late mother-in-law, Princess Diana. According to FT, the then-unnamed purse was gifted to Princess Diana in 1995 by the French first lady.
