Cruiser Bikes

The Huffy Nel Lusso Cruiser bike is a single-speed bike with a single gear ratio. The Huffy Nel Lusso Women’s bike is available in beautiful aesthetic colors to match any theme and ride when you have places to go or errands to run. It features dual-density grips and pedals for a more enjoyable ride every time you get on the bike. With sumptuous padding for real comfort, the seat has matching lavender sewing with cream piping.

Stopping is equally stress free with its pedal-backward coaster breaks. Sixthreezero also makes a men’s version of this beach cruiser. Not one to compromise on comfort, Huffy also delivers its Perfect Fit frame, which allows the upright riding position and full leg extension typical of cruisers.

Most of us have memories from childhood of hopping on our Sears Free-Spirits or our black Huffys and riding all day with no particular place to go. Going one town over, eating a pizza, turning around, and getting back home before dark. Remembering a particularly hard tumble when you were trying to carry too much in your arms and you let the bike get the better of you. Going 40 miles every few months atop a $1200 two-wheeler on a Saturday is not riding a bike, however. If you do that, I hope that you get yourself a low-tech, heavy bike for about $70 and have some fun again with it. So look, I’m 11 bikes down in a list of 13 so I think at this point we can just accept that all the Beach Cruisers recommended are built from steel unless otherwise stated.

We can also just agree that all the seats are wide, comfortable, spring-loaded, that they are all pretty cool whichever one you might pick; and that they all come with 24”/26” wheels and those funky upright handlebars. The frame is built from high-quality steel, but the 26” wheels are made schwinn spin bike from aluminum. And if you’re concerned about that sort of thing, it was designed in Hermosa Beach, CA. It’s a classic in its own lifetime and is one of the highest-selling Beach Cruisers available today. Beach cruisers stand out, owning a Beach cruiser is like owning olden day class.

The saddle, is as you would expect, thickly padded with a classic double spring setup. Not only are the chain and wheels covered by guards, but just look at the flat metal styling beneath the upper tube. It’s seriously old school, and therefore the epitome of cool.

The classic “retro” looks, reliable mechanical performance, comfortable ride, and relatively low price of cruisers also appealed to young Gen Xers. Nearly every major bike manufacturer now offers at least one cruiser model, if not an entire line. Some notable contemporary manufactures include Electra Bicycle Company and Felt Bicycles. Cruiser sales have continued to rise over the past decade and today many towns have clubs sponsoring regular cruiser rides as a way to promote the low-tech, high fun aspect of cycling. The Panama Jack cruiser bike by Huffy makes heads turn with its colorful, beach-vibe style.

Known mostly for city and mountain bikes, Huffy’s cruisers do not compromise comfort in any way. Again, it’s single speed, and it doesn’t have the fenders, baskets, and fancy accessories as some of the others. It’s the perfect college bike for zipping from dorm to class, or for just cursing the boardwalks down in Santa huffy beach cruiser Monica. Remember those childhood days when we soared on our bikes through the neighborhood? Our line of women’s cruiser bikes, with lightweight ALUXX frames and elegant step-through design were made for fun whether on daily rides to work, weekend jaunts to the farmer’s market, or a summer cruise along the beach.

A great choice of bikes included in the article, but we must not forget what cycling is all about. This is pure simple 1 speed backward pedaling braking heaven. As you would expect from Schwinn, the balloon whitewall tires are durable and grippy. Sure it doesn’t have a catchy name like the Catalina, or the Panama Jack, but therein also lies its secret.

This bike is definitely the one for people who want something stylish that is still cool while remaining effective. At $500 this one isn’t as cheap as the other Beach Cruisers. One thing I did notice is that this bike does come with very strong and durable tires, so the period between flats will be longer than you might normally expect. The frame itself also comes with a lifetime warranty, as in forever, just like with the men’s version. The Schwinn is constructed with a retro-city frame that is rare to get these days. It comes with a large 18” frame which also makes it a more feasible bike for those of us who are slightly taller than the average bear.
