It’s not only an affordable G-Shock, it’s the most affordable one in the entire range at $99, and that includes purely digital and ana-digi models. One is totally blacked out (GA2100-1A1) and the other is black with white hour markers and hands (GA2100-1A). Tastes will obviously differ, but there’s something fun and vibrant about the red that doesn’t come through in the black. I’ll never be the type of person who’s interested in wearing a G-Shock on a daily basis. As undeniably cool as many of them are, at the end of the day, the thing that gets my heart pumping when it comes to watches is their mechanical nature. But that doesn’t mean I can’t have a lot of fun with a bright red G-Shock on a weekend afternoon, and that, I think, is what this watch is made for.
Last year the all black model – an unlimited, in-production piece – was trading above RRP on the grey market after shops sold out. The use of the Carbon Core Guard structure allows the GA-2100 to be the slimmest G-Shock of all current models. The height and width of the watch is considered mid-size, rather than the large size of baby g shock most analog G-Shock watches, and the watch wears very light and comfortably. The GA-2100 is currently the lightest analog-digital G-Shock model at 51 grams. Though the display is larger than a DW-5600, it wears very similarly, and I like to think of it as an analog-digital version of the DW-5600, but with a few more features.
The watch is comfortable, and stylish, but , well, you get the picture. It protects the module by enclosing it in a carbon g shock watch case. The developers pursued a thinner design while still satisfying the original G-SHOCK criteria for shock resistance.

The G-Shock carbon core was never a concern for me. Its spring bar failure that ultimately leads to loss is what you need to worry about.
