Dji Fly

As strange as it may sound, DJI has been updating the app silently. The stick customization is an example, but more recently, they included the option to stream the video captured by the drone to any streaming platform, such as YouTube. By default, we’ve seen that we can use it to zoom in and out, but also to change the position of the gimbal. Pressing it once, the gimbal will be set at -90°, while if we press it again, it will return to 0°.

Don’t get me wrong, the DJI Goggles are far superior to a Google Cardboard type VR experience, but that does not stop me from being excited for mobile FPV on a DJI drone. Now that you have downloaded the dji fly app, that you know if your device is compatible, and that we have seen what the main app features are, it is time to get the bird flying. As new versions of the app come out, together with new drones and devices, the requirements are subject to change, so always have a look at the download center for an updated list of device and system compatibility. However, that doesn’t mean that we need the new generation of smartphones and tablets to comfortably run the DJI Fly app. Buying a drone and finding out that you cannot fly it because your device is not compatible with its app is more common than you might think. In fact, I know a few people who have not yet purchased drones because that would mean buying a new phone or tablet, greatly increasing the price of the investment.

A new update for the dji fly Android app (v 1.4.12) is now available, and there are some noteworthy features in there that make the update worthwhile. The unconfirmed claims were made by a Twitter user on March 10. Chinese drone producer DJI Global is accused of limiting capabilities of its AeroScope technology for the Ukrainian army, giving an air reconnaissance edge to Russian invaders.

DJI has since responded, claiming it can only enforce a no-fly zone for all the drones in Ukraine if the government formally requests geofencing be set up. The no-fly zone would not distinguish between Russian and Ukrainian-operated drones, nor would it eliminate the possibility of individual users circumventing the geofencing software. If you’re not familiar with the ‘Fly More’ bit, this is a bundle option DJI offers with all of its drones. It includes incredibly handy extras such as additional propellers, spare batteries and an ND filter set to open up more creative shooting options.

Smartphones that are newer than mine, such as the Galaxy S9, are not listed either, but it is obvious that if my old Galaxy S8 can run the DJI Fly app without problems, so can more recent phones and tablets. DJI Fly, the app you’d need to fly the forthcoming Mavic 3 drone, has received a fresh update (version 1.4.12) for iOS devices. Thus, the thought came to mention, and hope that DJI would here me out in developing an app update and drone software update to support this, as I know I am not the only one that has had this problem. Or, if that situation occurs, being able to stop it before further damage can be done. DJI is committed to helping pilots unleash their aerial creativity safely and responsibly. In keeping with that commitment, we’re offering this page filled with the latest tips, regulatory links, and instructional videos.
