Braun Series 3 Vs Braun Series 5

The second shave I used a shave oil because I couldn’t see how well it was doing with the foam. Although I could see better, the quality fo the shave was low. To recharge the battery, only use the detachable power supply provided with this appliance.

You want to be careful carrying it on the go to avoid draining the battery. However, you can lock a Series 5 shaver when traveling by simply pressing and holding the switch for 3 seconds. It’s hard to find fault with this shaver – it performs well, it looks great and it’s priced competitively. Even the negatives aren’t a big deal, and most people will be able to cope without a pouch or being able to see the battery display when the shaver is plugged in. Sure, we’d like a longer battery life, but with so much else going for the Series 5, we’d be prepared to waive that.

You can charge the shaver via the station or by plugging the included cord directly into the shaver. The three cutting elements can move independently to maintain constant contact with the skin, regardless of the area that’s being shaved. It took a good 2 minutes before I was confident I had cleaned the shaver. And even then I could make out some small dots of hair clippings here and there. Daily shaving will prevent hairs that grow in different directions from growing too long. While the shaver mowed these down when they were a fin stubble, once they grew they were the often missed, most noticeably on the neck and under the chin.

Unfortunately, the short charging cord strikes once again and you will have to sit your cleaning station quite close to your power outlet. Like most electric shavers, the Series 5 is best used when cutting hairs under 1/8th of an inch long . This flaw was also present in the Series 9 and Series 7 Shavers we reviewed.

In my experience, the differences between the old Series 7 and the Series 9, especially since you shave more often, would be minor. In terms of closeness, I personally don’t see any Braun Series 5 differences and I also have sensitive skin. Some users do, others don’t, but I think it would be a very safe choice for you and for anyone that deals with post-shave irritation.

Finally, I would have liked it to be a bit wider and sharper; it just takes me more time to shape my sideburns with the 5090cc compared to other shavers. You have to tilt the shaver so that the extremities of the trimmer will come into contact with the skin. Otherwise just the middle part will do the cutting and depending on what you’re doing this may not be ideal.

It features 3 flexible shaving elements that treat softly with the facial skin while shaving to ensure maximum shaving comfort. Like other Series 5 shavers, the Braun 5190cc is also a wet/dry shaver. So you can use your favorite shaving cream, foam, gel, water for refreshing shaves. The Braun 5190cc comes with a rechargeable Li-ion battery that provides 50 minutes of continuous cordless performance with 1-hour full charge. It features an auto-sense motor that can read your beard density and provides adequate power according to the density.

Being suitable for wet/dry use, you can also shave in the shower or with your favorite cream or gel. In fact, I can’t really find any compelling reason to pay more for a Series 7. The replacement shaving heads used by the Series 5 are also cheaper compared to the ones needed for the Series 7. The long hair trimmer on the Series cc/5190cc is positioned on the back of the shaver and it’s very handy for sideburn shaping and the likes.

Foil shavers aren’t usually very good at capturing and cutting difficult facial hair. I used the 5018s both wet and dry, daily, every other day and I also skipped shaving on weekends to see how it copes with a longer beard. This design of the shaver, with a cutout right underneath the shaving unit, allows you to rinse off the stubble without removing the cassette. This is somewhat surprising since the old Series 5 had a flexible shaving head that worked really well in my experience. The Series 8 is basically a rebranded Series 5 with a bigger battery; it’s not a bad shaver, but it’s definitely not better than a Series 7 — hence the negative reviews. I finally bought a 5090cc for my partner – he just tried today and liked it a lot.
