Pet hair on carpets wasn’t much of an issue for the Roomba either. This Roomba robot vacuum left about half of the material on the floor during this test. Multiple small tufts of hair remained after vacuuming low-pile carpeting. Medium-pile carpets proved to be the most challenging for the Eufy. Many more and larger clumps of hair stayed behind after the vacuum traveled over this surface. It can even mop and vacuum carpets within the same cleaning run by raising and lowering its mopping pad.
Csweepio knocked over my cat’s water bowl twice before I realised I could do this, so it’s a feature I’m now grateful for. Whether the 880 is worth the cost over a traditional vacuum cleaner comes down to how much you dislike vacuuming. Cheaper Roomba models are available which are more in line with the cost of a traditional cleaner, plus it probably works out cheaper than hiring a human cleaner.
The Roomba 694, on the other hand, was easy for us to strip down and reassemble with just a screwdriver. To get the best of both robot worlds, there are bundles of vacuum and mopping robot devices that can talk to each other. Set the robot vacuum to remove all the dust and dirt , then a robot mop can wash the floor. It may take a while to complete both steps, but it’s manageable either on a scheduled clean or with the push of a few buttons on the app. In testing, the Roomba s9+ performed the best of any robot vac on hardwood flooring. Its D-shaped design came within an inch and a half of the corner, picking up everything it could reach. The performance was still solid on carpeting with only about 10% of the flour left, 5% of the kitty litter, and no coffee grounds or pet hairs to be found after testing.
