It was headed by Vice President of Manufacturing Hoppy Brooks, in his attempt to market motorbike frames. Skip Hess began BMX Products, Inc. out of his residence in Simi Valley, California in September 1974 with mongoose mountain bicycles his first product being the well-known Motomag One wheel. In its early years Hess recalled that about 600 frames per day had been produced at its Chatsworth, Los Angeles location.
Brunswick bought Mongoose to Pacific Cycle in 2000 and Pacific Cycle was purchased by Montreal-based Dorel Industries in 2004. By combining Pon.Bike and Dorel Sports, a number one bicycle company on the earth will be created, with a mixed income of around 2.5 billion euro. Mongoose is a brand name of bicycles originally designed, manufactured, and bought by BMX Products, Inc. RECO was a wholly owned manufacturing division created for insurance functions to be separate from BMX Products, Inc, although RECO was all the time produced in-house.
