Beats Flex on MacRumors

The wires that connect the control panels to the earbuds are a little awkward — they’re thick and flat to help avoid tangling, but they are so stiff they feel weird. These connected wireless earbuds are a bargain, they have loads to offer for Apple users. You can hook them up to the Apple Find My network and you can share your audio with other Beats headphones and Airpods. You will have to make some sacrifices in sound quality but overall they offer a lot for your money. As our explains, inconsistent audio performance theatens to put a downer on things, though at this price it would be foolish to look past altogether. But if that’s my biggest gripe with the $50 Beats Flex, I think they’re a pretty clear success.

Out of the box, Beats supplies four options, and even then they still felt a little loose in ours ears and we found ourselves pushing them hard into the ear canal to make them feel secure. If the fit isn’t right these earphones sound truly terrible, so it’s really important to try each tip to get things right as things improve dramatically once plugged properly in your ears. Let’s kick off with the positives as there’s certainly plenty to like about these new budget Beats. First, they include Apple’s clever W1 chip which means, straight out of the box, they will connect seamlessly with your iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

The Beats usually have an enhanced bass and they are louder than the Boss. However, the Bose has a built-in equalizer that makes sound smoother. But it also causes the sound to be different from the original. However, Flex can isolate more noise and leak less sound than Powerbeats Pro.

You can also improve its stability by choosing the best-fitted earbuds from four different sizes options. You can also manage calls and music automatically with the Beats magnetic earbuds. When you snap the buds together, that will pause/resume music and start/end calls. 10 minutes fast fuel for 1.5 hours of playback when the battery is low. On the right side of the neckband there is another identical sized control section, but this only has the power on/Bluetooth connection button on it. The left compartment has a multifunction button that controls various functions , as well as a volume rocker and microphone.

You must manually disconnect from the current device, before connecting to the desired device. This isn’t an issue if you live beats solo pro wireless in the Apple ecosystem thanks to the W1 chip, but for the rest of us, that time adds up quickly. At this price, the Beats Flex is a fine deal as they offer a lot of the features found on the AirPods, minus the true wireless design.

They have a very comfortable fit and should stay in place during workouts, although, unlike some sports-oriented headphones, they don’t have stability fins or ear hooks. They’re well-built and have a lightweight, portable design. Unfortunately, they lack an IP rating for dust or water resistance. They’re comfortable, lightweight, and can be worn around your neck when you’re on the go. Since they’re fairly small in size and have a flexible plastic and silicone design, you can easily stash them in most pockets or bags without an issue. They have an 11-hour continuous battery life, which should be enough for daily commutes.
