The entire Spirit II line interfaces with Weber’s iGrill 3 smart thermometer ; this can alert you, through an app downloaded to your phone, when your food has reached certain temperatures. For now, we think a simple probe thermometer, like the ThermoWorks Blackstone Adventure Dot, could alert you in a similar way for less cost. For our 2022 update, we relied mainly on market research and meta-analysis. Most new grills worth considering are still produced by the same companies whose products we’ve tested in previous years.
Also, while they can mitigate flare ups, there is still the possibility of these occuring. With painted grills like this, chipping and scratches is always a concern so you should watch out for this. However, as long as you store it in a dry area and keep it covered at all times, you should be able to avoid this.
After giving the ribs 10 minutes to rest, we gave ’em a try. They were tender and pretty juicy, but not falling off the bone. Next time I’d try cooking them on indirect low heat on the main rack to see if they’d be even more tender. The Spirit II is similar to the $850 Weber Genesis II E-310.
On a cold day with ambient temperatures in the upper 30°F range and all three burners on the low setting, Spirit II registered temps of about 410°F in front and 440°F in back. This was our second E-210 purchase and we are very happy with it. Only thing we did not like about the original E-210 is that it had a panel on the front that looked nice, but it was hard to loan/unload the propane tank underneath the grill itself. It was difficult because one had to hold a new, full tank at arms length to hook it onto the mounting hook used for indication of the amount of fuel in the tank. We are in our 80s, and this was too difficult, so we opted for a E-210 configured with a tank mount on the outside where it is readily accessible. At the same time, as you grow as a barbecue enthusiast, this grill accommodates this.
I do have this grill but it needs front wheels for more easy to move around. You regularly cook for more than 7 people and want to be able to grill enough in one round. The side shelves and burner do not fold down to make a compact unit even more compact for storage.
It can also be an interesting accesory to have if you aren’t a fan of hanging around the grill all day long. If you want to cook food more gradually, then it is simply a matter of leaving the middle burner off. The warranty details coverage against rust and burn through for this period. However, fading and other typical wear and tear will be not be covered. This new series takes a lot from the aforementioned Genesis but makes an emphasis on compactness, practicality, and convenience.
