This might be the first time in TMS history, that we had to go to a retail store, track down a pair of headphones, and retest them to make sure we weren’t losing our minds – or our hearing. We tested two other pairs of Studio3 Wireless, and one other pair of Solo3 Wireless, just to double check that we weren’t missing something. And, without one shred of a doubt, we can say that our conclusion was the same. These are the worst pair of headphones we have ever tested in this price-range.
Considering the price range, I would not recommend you to go for Beats Studio3 Wireless Headphones. For anyone who wants better sound quality and a build with better features, go for Sony WH-1000XM3. If you are getting Studio3 Wireless Headphones in the sale, grab one. Otherwise, we have better options like Bose QC35 or even better Sony WH-1000XM3 which are totally worth the buck. With headphones that last up to 40 hours on a charge, you’ll want them to be comfortable.

Again, this is a problem that all ANC headphones have to try and manage. Still, it’s a refreshing change from the early days of wireless headphone development and worth being rather pleased about. Setup with Apple devices literally takes less than a second, thanks to the W1 chipset that makes the whole process ridiculously simple.
Tap the ring around the B button to adjust volume, which works in conjunction with your mobile device’s master volume levels. Power and pairing are controlled by a small button on the bottom of the right ear cup. Pressing and holding the button turns them on and, if held down for an extra second, will initiate the pairing process. Unfortunately, there isn’t any voice notification to let you know that either of these things has happened. More microphones result in better sound quality and enable the device to filter out background noise. The device is designed in a way that allows sound to go out through the back of the ear cups, which usually have vents or perforations.
The sound quality is phenomenal and you can always turn off the NC feature on iPhone by swiping down on the top right and holding the volume bar. The Sony WH-H900N/h.ear on 2 Wireless have similar performance to the Beats Studio3 Wireless. The Sony have a better-balanced default sound profile and more customization options, thanks to their companion app.
Based on the frequency response, the sound characteristics of a headphone can be well described. The headphonecheck.com measurement curve represents the audible range as a frequency response shown here as a curve. For a quick overview, the simple view also gives you the opportunity to evaluate the sound characteristics of the test candidate at a glance. We opted for the ‘Asphalt Grey’ option when picking out a model for this test, but the rather uninspiring name is not reflective of this premier product itself.
I think the brand as a whole has grown up from its younger days, across design, hardware and the sound quality. There’s still an emphasis on bass, but not an overemphasis that results in a horribly balanced beats studio3 mix. Since Apple owns Beats, the Studio3s get to have the latest and greatest tech from the tech giant, including Apple’s W1 chip for easy pairing and switching among devices in that ecosystem.
