Dyson 360 Heurist Robot Vacuum: the GHI verdict

We loved the headlights on this robot’s 360° camera – these were effective at lighting the way when the robot went into the dark corners and under furniture. A design that’s too tall, a price that’s too high, and a set of features that’s too limited keep us from giving the Dyson 360 Eye our full recommendation. But this robot did give us an idea of the impressive engineering Dyson is capable of, and we fully expect to see better results from future versions. The 360 Eye comes with a 2-year warranty—a year longer than most other robot vacuums. The 360 Eye is has a small footprint, but is taller than most robot vacuums.

This makes a reliable addition to any home, proving a consistent cleaner on hard floors and carpet. While its cleaning pattern wasn’t that efficient, the app documents its path so you can see which spots may need tending to manually. It also lets you set up no-go areas and cleaning schedules easily and the vac responded well to voice control. Dyson has a robot vacuum they’ll likely release this year to roll up on Roomba.

It has an onboard HEPA filter to trap allergens as it cleans and is effective in trapping particles like pet dander. You can also use it to monitor things at home while you’re away by looking through the camera. It can also identify the type of room it’s in based on the furniture and automatically suggest different irobot vacuum cleaner cleaning modes for distinct areas, like bedrooms, kitchens, or bathrooms. It performs remarkably well on bare floors and does an okay job cleaning carpets. If you want to spend as little as possible on a robot vacuum and don’t want or need many convenience features, the eufy RoboVac 25C is a good option.

Like the Roborock, it features LIDAR navigation and feels better built; however, it isn’t self-emptying compatible. It also does a terrible job of sealing fine allergens, even with a high-efficiency shark cordless E11 filter. At the Institute we have often been impressed by the power of Dyson vacuums. In some ways, the Heurist is no exception, but its robotics and connectivity are lacking.

There are certainly Dyson fans out there who will buy a Heurist no matter what. If you cannot abide vacuuming, and only want to do it every couple of weeks to grab any spots a robot might have missed, then perhaps this vacuum is for you. However, at £799.99, this is no small investment, especially given the significant weaknesses with this vacuum. The service includes labor and spare parts where required , which are guaranteed for 12 months or until service support ends for your machine – whichever is soonest.

As per the reports by The Verge, the unannounced vacuum cleaner may be called the Dyson 360 Hyperdymium. Reports also suggest that the Dyson vacuum cleaner will be equipped with the brand’s strongest motor, the Hyperdymium , which is supposed to be more reliable and quieter than a brushed motor. Unfortunately, despite the presence of a high-efficiency E11 filter, it does a terrible job of sealing in fine particles, which are blown clean out of its LIDAR sensor.

Compared to the pricier Roborock Q5, it has a far more rudimentary navigation system that relies on random pathing to maneuver around a room. Build quality is passable, with a few notable weak points like its clear plastic dustbin, but that isn’t unexpected given its affordable price point. If you’re looking for a better-built budget-friendly robot vacuum, the yeedi K650 is worth a look, but availability is limited. With 68% of Britons saying they aren’t keen on or actively dislike vacuum cleaning, it’s no wonder many of us are intrigued by the idea of robot vacuum cleaners. Yet for as long as they’ve been around, robot vacuums have been a little gimmicky, with lots of us feeling unsure of whether they could do a thorough job of cleaning our homes. For a robot vacuum, its dust pickup on carpet is outstanding, scoring perfect marks.
