The Railway Engineer

Most manufacturers no longer give a horsepower rating, so engine displacement is now the only universal way to compare relative engine size. Most pressure washers can apply soap or detergent under low pressure. The easiest method is through an on-board tank where the soap or detergent can be stored. Another method includes the use of a bottle that is filled with the soap or detergent and attached to the end of the wand, making it heavier.

They are more affordable (think $300 and below), lighter, quieter and easier to store and maintain. While overall cleaning ability was our main criteria, we also assessed ease of use, including handling and maneuverability, ease of swapping nozzles and adding cleaning solutions. And we paid attention to noise since pressure washers are often operated for long stretches at a time. Finally, our engineers evaluated general construction, such as materials and fittings, to highlight models that should deliver the longest service. In the past five years, we have reviewed more than two dozen new pressure washers. When it came to reviewing specific models for this roundup, our engineers and product testers spent approximately 20 hours poring over hundreds of technical and performance data points.

The RY comes with three nozzles (rotary, 15-degree, and soap), and among those we don’t think there is any normal cleaning task that the RY can’t handle. The SHP2150 from Stanley is one of the most powerful electric pressure washers that I’ve ever reviewed. Most electric pressure washers fall within the 1500 to 1800 psi range, which is absolutely adequate for general sun joe spx 3000 cleaning tasks. But if you need to clean tough stains off the driveway or get rid of mold/ mildew from the furniture in your patio you need slightly more punch. Around 1800 to 2000 psi, but the SHP2150 goes even further than that. It has a maximum water flow rate of 1.4GPM which is actually not bad, I was expecting them to sacrifice flow rate for higher psi.

It’s a medium duty pressure washer that you can use to clean off dirt from any of your outdoor power equipment like lawn mowers, your car, motorcycle, bicycle, patio furniture etc. With up to 3400 PSI of water pressure flowing through the nozzle at a flow rate of 2.6 gallons per minute, the Westinghouse WPX3400 generates a cleaning unit of 8,840. Although, it’s one of the best, it’s still very affordable, making it ideal for anyone looking for a good gas pressure washer to clean off the dirt around the home. There’re different types of pressure washers, but the way they all work are similar and quite simple. A gas engine or an electric motor, a pump and an orifice or nozzle. Some reviewers actually devised a way to soften the water pressure coming out of the spray wand by muffling it with towels and catching all the water being sprayed out with a large funnel.

We were very nervous about accidentally placing it on a sharp rock or even an upturned stick for fear of puncturing it. We also never held the bladder by just the handle, because we worried that it would pull right off the bag. After our conversations with PressureWashr’s Jamey Kramar and our additional research, we determined a number of features to look for when purchasing a pressure washer. For about $100 less than our pick, this model cleans comparably, but because it lacks several standout features, it’s much less convenient to use. Some models allow warmer incoming water, though they state that water isn’t hot enough for steam-cleaning.

It also offers easy storage for both the hose and cord, although it doesn’t give you as much room to work with in that regard as our larger main pick does. Like the other Ryobi pressure washers, it has a three-year warranty. For a less powerful but more portable option, we like the Ryobi RY1419MTVNM 1900 PSI Electric Pressure Washer. Although it has the same long hose and cord as our main pick, this Ryobi washer is much smaller, weighing around 20 pounds (as opposed to 50-ish pounds).

So moving the Greenworks around on a flat surface, like a driveway or lawn, is no problem, but getting it up a set of patio stairs or a curb is difficult. In fact, we had to fully lift it, which is awkward, given how the handle sits and where the center of gravity is. The Ryobi and DeWalt just bump right up a set of stairs with minimal difficulty. The cordless idea has potential and got us thinking about ways it could work better. One solution would be for the washer to have some kind of pumping ability so that you could drop the inlet hose into a 5-gallon bucket.

If the motor didn’t have such a low-key sound, this constant operation could have been an issue, but at no point did the motor noise bother us. But gas pressure washers do have their place, due to their sun joe spx 3000 power. They’re considerably faster at cleaning—roughly twice as fast—than electric models. This difference is most noticeable when you’re cleaning large areas, such as a driveway or a big deck.

westinghouse pressure washers

Recently, Westinghouse updated the model and it’s now called the ePX3050. It received a minor 20psi pressure boost but all other specifications and features remain unchanged. Pricing hasn’t changed either, this is still one of the most affordable 2000-watt electric pressure washers you can buy. The ePX3000 will effortlessly clean everything from your patio to your westinghouse pressure washers driveway, and the built-in soap tank makes removing tough stains much easier. There are other excellent alternatives from companies like Sun Joe and Karcher, which I review later in this article, but my personal favorite is the ePX3000/ ePX3050 from Westinghouse. Plus, it transitions seamlessly between paved and unpaved surfaces thanks to the 360° wheels.
