Power and the Engineer

Last, Ryobi covers this model with a three-year limited warranty, one of the longest warranties we found for an electric pressure washer. Ryobi tools are readily available at Home Depot, too, and you can have any servicing done through that retailer, as well, an option that adds to the overall convenience of this pressure washer. Using Champion Power Equipment these criteria and taking into consideration the overall satisfaction expressed in customer reviews, we selected six pressure washers in 2019 for a closer look. In early 2021, we tested two additional pressure washers, including a new cordless model from Ryobi. Pressure washers are not only thorough cleaners but fast cleaners, as well.

A few years ago, whenever someone brought up the name “CAT” I would think about their excavators, dump trucks, industrial diesel generators, etc. But it turns out they’ve got their hands in a whole bunch of businesses. And just like their construction equipment, these phones are extremely rugged. I strongly believe it’s one of Champion Power Equipment the best deals you can get, not because of the PSI rating but because of how it’s built. Just pick it up and move it around, there’s a perfectly nice carry handle right in the middle for optimum weight balance. On top of that, Sun Joe’s SPX3000 actually has a slightly shorter hose compared to the Westinghouse ePX3000/ ePX3050.

This electric pressure washer offers a nice combination of value and performance. With a modest 1,900 PSI and 1.2 GPM, the machine is best for smaller jobs, like clearing dirt and mildew from your deck. The telescoping handle and lightweight, 22.7-pound construction make for easy handling. We also liked the compact design and vertical storage, during our testing. Both power washers and pressure washers use pressurized water to remove dirt and other grime from hard surfaces. However, power washers have a heating element that heats the water, which helps it remove tougher grime.

The type of fuel source your power washer uses will determine its pressure, volume, and weight. The Swisher LS22E is one of the best 22-ton electric log splitters available today. It’s a 120V electric 22-ton splitter and works with any standard home outlet. The Greenworks GPW2300 is similar to our Ryobi top pick and DeWalt runner-up, but it has smaller wheels, and we’ve seen availability issues with that company’s models.

Dan brings more than 20 years of experience to the Institute, having reviewed thousands of products for Good Housekeeping, as well as brands like This Old House and Consumer Reports. He has personally tested pressure washers from more than a dozen leading brands. And, of course, he routinely pulls out the pressure washer at his home to clean the wood deck, brick patio, outdoor furniture and other exterior surfaces. The Ryobi pumps out a respectable 1.2 gallons per minute, which punches above its weight when combined with the superb 2,300 pounds per square inch of pressure.

The stainless steel and plastic spray wand is solidly built and had a high-quality brass connection. It has a strong frame to support the engine, a built-in detergent tank, and large wheels to maneuver over obstacles and upstairs with ease. It feels powerful enough for commercial use as everything is top-notch. This gas-engine pressure washer comes with a five-year frame warranty, two-year engine warranty, one-year pump warranty, and 90-day accessory warranty.

As for the power, Ryobi refers to the washer as a 1,500 psi model, but it actually has a running figure of around 1,000 psi. To assess its overall run time, we tested it with two full batteries at the 1,000 psi level, and it ran for roughly 33 minutes. The RY has a 35-foot hose, a feature that distinguishes it from most gas washers, which usually have either a 25- or 30-foot hose. Like the electric model, the gas Ryobi is available at Home Depot and comes with a long, three-year warranty.
