The bissell crosswave cordless Pet Plus does an okay job of cleaning low-pile carpet when used in its carpet surface setting with the ‘MAX’ suction trigger pulled. It clears away the majority of fine material like baking soda and larger debris like sand. A noticeable amount of debris can be left behind after only a pass or two. The Shark Cordless Pet Plus has a couple of quality-of-life features.
With that said, keep in mind that it’s about half the price of that famous English brand. In conclusion, it’s a quick, easy and very lightweight stand up vacuum for spot jobs, and for those in-between times when you don’t want to haul out the big, corded vac. It would be easy for kids to operate to clean up spills and such.
It’s the Dyson v11 Outsize that has 220aw of suction – that’s the Dyson with the oversized head, which is different from the Dyson v11 Animal that I’m reviewing. And while the two bins do have a different method of emptying, the result is the same for both of them with me – I have to reach in and manually pull the junk out. If you have arthritis or other issues with your hands, having a typical on/off switch like you do with the Sharks might be preferable. And as far as I can tell there is no way to take out and clean the filter. It doesn’t seem to have as much suction as my old model either. I also don’t like how this one comes apart to take the bottom off and use it as a stick vacuum. My old one you just had to pull it off and then push it back together, this one you have to bend down or pick it up and push a button to get it to disconnect. It does work well, I just don’t think it is as good as my old model was.

However, the Shark feels sturdier, has a larger dirt compartment, and does a better job of picking up debris on high-pile carpet. However, it’s on the bulkier side for a stick vacuum and can be a bit of a hassle to maneuver in cluttered environments.
All that said, read your Shark vacuum’s user manual beforehand, to make sure your particular model has a rinsable filter. For Shark vacuums with washable filters, you will need to rinse the pre-motor filters every 30 days. Any household with pets or heavy dirt accumulation might need to rinse the filters more often. Washable HEPA filters only need to be rinsed every 12 months.
