The only annoyance in the wind is the disposable aluminum drip tray liner, which is designed to save you from having to clean what can notoriously be the nastiest part of a grill. Without some significant weight added — like a rock — you can expect that this drip pan will pick up and fly away with the first significant gust of wind.
Not changed is the 189 square inches of cooking space offered, push button ignition, infinite control burner value, cast aluminum lid and body and a glass-reinforced nylon body. An easy-to-read, integrated thermometer helps you accurately track temperature, and fold-out side tables offer plenty of space for your BBQ tools. While its weight and lack of latching lid make it less than ideal for carrying into remote picnic sites, the Weber Q 1200 is the ideal companion for road tripping and car-camping.
For instance, you could load it in the back of a pickup truck to take to a football tailgate and help out by grilling burgers, hot dogs, sausage, and bratwurst for you and a few friends. So, once again – if more portability and a lighter weight are top considerations for you, then the Q1200 would be the way to go. However, if you don’t mind the extra bulk and weight of a larger grill, then the Q2200 could be a viable option. It’s a great mid-range grill that’s great for home use but compact enough to take out about in certain circumstances.
