Coleman Evergreen Screened Porch 4 Person Cabin Tent Review

Both Base Camp tents have two doors and lots of mesh in the main tent body. But unlike the Mineral King 3 and the Tungsten 4, the mesh on each Base Camp tent starts high on the walls—more than 4 feet from the ground. This design is a big plus for people who regularly camp in crowded campgrounds and don’t like to get naked in front of strangers.

Once that is done, you just prop it up, and secure the corners and guy lines using the supplied set of stakes. The only big difference I found is that Coleman tents tend to be made in China, while both my CORE tents were made in Bangladesh. My Coleman Tent zippers were exactly the same, non-branded, not too snaggy, though this rain cover thing/zipper cuff will sometimes snag the zipper. Another reason why I love the Coleman 10-Person Instant Tent is because it has this amazing hinged door. In contrast, the lowest height in the tent, which is always at the corners, is about 65 inches.

This tent has an integrated rain fly, and could have been stuffy without a lot of thoughtful attention to ventilation. This pentagon-shaped tent opens and closes like an umbrella, making for a speedy and intuitive setup. The four windows, floor-to-ceiling door, and skylight roof allow lots of ventilation and superior coleman bbq cross breeze on hot days. Seasons-wise and climate-wise,  I see this tent as a summer camping tent, or maximum for 2 seasons (late spring, summer, and early autumn). The ceiling is all mesh which cannot be closed, so this is great for warm weather camping but this is not optimal for a cold environment.

This is actually slightly taller than my height (I’m 5’3″/160cm tall), so I could stand up everywhere inside the Core Tent. The other extreme is my 10-Person Instant Tent, which has no windows that can be opened, and no vents at all. Not all the seams come taped for both brands, which is a pity, because the most vulnerable seam at the bottom of the tent is usually only just inverted, and not seam taped, which is why there’s leaking. Ventilation and ease of setup were two key things we tested for. The Core Instant Tent comes in sizes all the way from 4-person to 12-person. Families of all sizes are using it to comfortably camp — even with their little ones in tow.

Everyone who tested this tent loved it, and it’s not hard to understand why. With plenty of interior space, near-vertical walls, and a gigantic vestibule that could accommodate a golf cart, the Wawona feels more like a tiny home than a tent. In terms of how the two tents feel, the Marmot coleman bbq Tungsten 4 is more geared toward hunkering down and providing stalwart defense against wind, rain, and sun. In contrast to the Mineral King 3’s triangular vestibules, the Tungsten 4’s vestibules are trapezoidal, opening via a central door with protected areas on either side.

Every moment of your outdoor adventure is precious so with preassembled poles you can have your tent set up in about a minute. You might want to compare this tent with the Wenzel Kodiak 9 Person Tent which is also built as a cabin tent with 2 cabinets. Check also their Ozark Trail 10 Person 2 Room tent which is more affordable.

This camping tent is designed with the WeatherTec system that features patented welded floors and inverted seams to help ensure you stay dry if it starts to rain. An integrated vented rainfly offers added protection from the rain coleman cabin tent and improves airflow without the need for extra assembly. This backpacking tent is made from rugged Polyguard 2X double-thick fabric that stands up to the rigors of the outdoors, so you can use it reliably season after season.

Which eliminates wrestling your tent to get it back into its case. Ideally, you will want to use this tent with a maximum of 2 people (4 can get a bit cramped), as you need to take into account having some extra room to move around freely. Well with a thorough look over and test, we don’t think so, but for sure one of the more favorable features on any product is a modest price tag. The mesh is also pretty good quality, and keeps out larger bugs like mosquitoes, but not no-see-ums. When zipping the door up from the inside, push the door out at the same time. And when zipping the door up from the outside, lift the rain cover thing when zipping.
