Weber Q 2200 Gas Grill Review: Worth the Hype

Once the grill cooled down a bit after cooking, I used my wire brush to clean food and grease off the grates. Everything came off the porcelain-enameled cast iron easily, especially because the grates were still a bit warm. Porcelain-coated cast-iron cooking grates are best at searing foods, though cast iron does add an extra 5 to 10 pounds to the total weight of a grill. We also prefer an open grate design that allows ambient heat from the firebox to brown the areas in between the grill marks. With an MSRP of $269, the 2200 Gas Grill is definitely one of the more expensive portable gas grills you can buy. However, it’s also one of the largest and most powerful on the market.

Once that’s done, all that’s left to do is place the grates on the grill and slide the catch pan into place. The sturdy handles extend far enough away from the grill body to make it reasonable to pick up and move even while lit. Last, but certainly not least, we wish this model came with a latch to secure the lid. Though it doesn’t solve the issue, the cast aluminum lid is at least heavier than most, so it doesn’t bounce around much during normal travel. But if you’re planning on four-wheeling into your BBQ site, consider using a bungee cord to help secure it.

This is a grill that was designed to last for years, which really should be no surprise if you have seen any of Weber’s products. For grilling on the go weber charcoal grill you’ll be amazed by the power and results you can achieve with the Q1000 series. The Q1200 is a powerful cooking machine that’s ready to go in minutes.

This 20-pound propane grill folds up like a suitcase, and you can carry it with one hand. This larger version of our pick offers more cooking area and higher heat output. The Weber Q 1200 Gas Grill is our pick because of its no-fuss convenience and stellar performance. For charcoal purists, we recommend the Weber Jumbo Joe Charcoal Grill 18″, which is just as capable as a full-size kettle at searing and grilling food to perfection. The Q Series grills are made from cast aluminum and heavy duty plastic which makes them immune to rust when used in coastal areas and near swimming pools.

Also included are the removable drip catch pan, and one disposable liner. The manual which guides you through assembly and a recipe book with a few great grilling ideas are also included. Made with solid materials meant to handle both heat and the elements, the Q 100 is known for its durability and longevity.

You can cook about six burgers at a time on the Q 1000’s 189 square inch grilling surface. The weber genesis 2 3200 has the largest cooking area of all the Weber Q gas grills with 393 square inches of grilling space. The Q 3200 also comes with a stand for the grill, making it the only freestanding Weber Q model. This model also has a Grill Out handle light, which illuminates your grill for nighttime cooking.

The spacious dome lid has a built-in thermometer that lets you know when the grill is hot. And small fold-out side tables on either side are convenient for keeping grill tools within reach. If you have a Phillips-head screwdriver and a can-do attitude, you’ll be able to set up the Weber Q 2200 Grill in a matter of minutes. After pulling the grill and its pieces out of the box, I attached the lid using the included pins and screwed on the grill’s handle and thermometer. The control valve and ignition button simply slip into place, and the ignition even comes with the necessary AAA battery.

I am simply sharing my opinions on these grills after quite a lot of time cooking on both of them. The biggest issue here would be with the fact that there is only one burner. Now, given the size of the model this isn’t too surprising, but it does create a small issue when it comes to indirect cooking.
