There are Giant AM wheels in either 29 or 27.5 versions and they’re wrapped with a Maxxis DHF 29×2.5″ and a Maxxis Agressor 29×2.5″ both with EXO casings. The 650b bike gets a pair of Maxxis Ardent Race 27.5×2.6″ tyres. It’s finished with own brand Giant kit with Giant Sole-O grips and Giant Romero Saddle. Not only is the Reign SX the cheapest rig in the range but it’s also the only Reign that comes with 650b wheels. The differences don’t stop there, the RockShox Yari RC Debonair offers 180mm of travel and the RockShox Super Deluxe Coil Select allows for 160mm of travel.

The Langma Advanced Pro 1 Disc (£4,199) gets a Shimano Ultegra groupset and a Giant Power Pro power meter, while the top-level Langma Advanced Pro 0 Disc is equipped with Ultegra in its Di2 electronic format. The Defy Advanced 3 (above, £2,099) has Shimano’s fourth tier Tiagra components – great stuff that benefits from technology that has trickled down from higher level groupsets. If you wanted a rim brake version, you’d need to buy the frameset and build it up yourself. Giant has incorporated aerodynamic features on its TCR for the first time to minimised drag.

The Giant TCX Advanced Pro 2 uses stability-inducing geometry and vibration-damping technology to make even the roughest courses feel fast. A slightly shorter reach and long chainstays (relative to those of its competitors) help the bike feel planted in sloppy conditions, and Giant’s proprietary D-Fuse seatpost improves ride quality while you’re in the saddle. Shifts mongoose bmx bike from the 11-speed SRAM Rival 1 drivetrain are immediate, and the flat-mount hydraulic disc brakes have 140mm rotors for race-level stopping power. At less than $3,000, the TCX Advanced Pro 2 is a great value for a smooth-handling ’cross bike. There are four bikes in the range all of which have aluminium frames with each model coming with a choice of wheel size.

The below guide will include some of the still available 2021 models. If you can run to £1,49 for the Devote 1 you’ll be rewarded with a Shimano GRX RX-400 groupset, including hydraulic disc brakes. The Devote bikes come with flat mount disc brakes and are compatible with mudguards and racks. They have internal cable routing and feature three water bottle mounts on all frame sizes.

At this price point, there’s a split between a carbon frame and an alloy with an arguably nicer kit. Built around Giants’ ALUXX SL-Grade aluminium frame the Reign 29 1 comes with a Fox 38 Performance fork and an X2 shock, much like the top of the range bike. The drivetrain gets a bit interesting here, it’s a mish-mash of Shimano bits with a Deore XT shifter and mech but an SLX drivetrain and Deore XT crankset. The brakes are Shimano MT501 levers paired with MT520 callipers. As with the other bikes, it also gets a 32t chainring and MRP AMG V2 chain guide.
