Be aware, however, that they are still basically toys and Razor is not a luxury brand. We’ve had our own issues with our E100 (keep reading!) and we’ve heard lots of stories of scooters that just stop working or never work out of the box. These two facets, which are important to me, might not matter at all if you live in a suburban home with a garage. Will it be up and down the driveway, to and from school, around a local park, or will it be used to ride around the neighborhood? I’m trying to slow down an E100 electric scooter with some sort of variable speed controller. To be fair, I almost never fold my electric scooters, but for some reason I like knowing that I can if I need to. The rear hub motor hidden under the raised deck uses an 8-inch airless tire, while the front wheel has a larger 9-inch air-filled tire. The combination of air-filled and airless tires seems a bit odd to me, but perhaps it was done to increase convenience. That rear wheel will be annoying to remove, so an airless tire means you never have to worry about a flat.
Gibbs Law Group filed a class action lawsuit against Razor in the Superior Court of California for Los Angeles County. The class action suit, representing owners of the affected Razor electric scooters, alleged that Razor failed to adequately warn consumers or recall the defective scooters. In doing so, the class action contended that Razor had violated various consumer protection laws.
The lead acid battery drivetrain is hopelessly primitive, and presents some serious problems. This type of battery has limited recharge cycles, so don’t expect the E300 to last more than razor scooter five years. Likewise, store it for an extended period of time and the batteries will die. Taking it up a moderate incline, the motor pulled reasonably well without bogging down.
If replacement parts are ever required, use the authorized parts and accessories in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications.
