I have never smelled it before and with this pandemic thought why not. I know everyone has their preferences when it comes to perfumes, and with so many people loving it, I was pretty sure it was a safe buy. Estee Lauder makeup But it absolutely assaults my olfactory senses. Almost strangulates you with it’s strength. I guess I am just sadly over the giddy sweet perfumes. Gave it away to my younger cousin, who just loves it.
The time is too short, so let´s enjoy what we want. Every time I wear it, I feel the class and elegance Estee Lauder makeup in its sweet-floral aroma. I receive also very frequently compliments because of this beauty.
Launched in 2012, from the Lancome house, the La Vie Est Belle appeals to many, and is still unique to each. The sweetness of the iris is balanced with the smooth notes of iris, creating a lovely symphony of complex aromas. Strong-willed women who don̻t need conventional norms to realize what beauty is, will find the fragrance to their liking. Lasting over eight hours, the fragrance was created for women and is a scent suited to daily wear around the office or for lunch meetings. Lancôme has long fostered this conviction and shares it today with all women in the form of an exceptional creation.
It reminded me of Angel – a strong, patchouli gourmand – but actually wearable! I picked up an older bottle and it is surprisingly much less heavy on the patchouli and much more fruits and creamy, powdery vanilla! I guess the juice mellows out a lot with time. I really enjoy this one either way.
Here I simply lack a soft counterpart. This comes, however, already short moments later in the form of the floral fragrance notes. These give the fragrance the depth it needs to become coherent. And now the sweet base notes are coming more and more to the fore. Tonka and vanilla (synthetic, of course, but that’s okay!) take over a bit now and stay until the end. The initial scratchiness has now given way to a, still slightly burnt, but no longer annoying sugar note.
But I can see myself enjoying it in autumn and fall for casual occasions, social gatherings or outings with family and friends. Ropion’s ambitious olfactory theatrics are irresistable and when he hits the target, the result is more often than not a spectacular success; Alien being the best example imo. But when it is a little ‘off’, it can feel like an overwrought screechy melodrama in need of a ‘less-is-more’ edit. 5 minutes later and there’s some iris too it, too, but it doesn’t smell very powdery like I’d usually expect from it. It reminds me of Viktor and Rolf flowerbomb.
Praline is one of my favorite notes. I was devastated to realize that my signature, Tresor Lumineuse, was discontinued, so I wanted to explore other fragrances by Lancôme. Even though this is their hallmark product, I can see that it’s a staple for a reason. This fragrance is ageless, and would work well for day or night. As many have said, perhaps not the ideal reach for a very warm day, but I can see this being a 3-season perfume where I live.
