For most drones, no, you do not need an app on a connected mobile device in order to fly, however, the flight experience without an app may not be very great. In addition to new safety features, the Mavic Air 2 has a number of fun features that both newbie and experienced drone pilots will enjoy experimenting with. The “scene recognition” feature can detect sunset, blue skies, snow, grass and trees and automatically adjust camera settings to shoot the best photos and videos possible. FocusTrack has a number of improvements, too, including better a Point of Interest 3.0 feature that has better surface recognition and dynamic tracking. While nearly $800 is still a lot of money to drop on a high-tech toy, it’s a great deal if you want a solid DJI drone with as many useful accessories as possible.
That extra speed means the Mini 2 can stand up to stronger winds, which is incredible for something this small and light. I recommend staying grounded if the wind is strong enough to do more than flutter leaves on trees. That’s around where the Mini 2 tops out, and if leaves are fluttering near the ground, the wind is most likely much stronger up higher. In the Control tab of the settings, tap Advanced in the Button Customization section. To avoid any surprises, if you are running an iOS-based device, the first thing you should do is check the Apple Store section for the dji fly app to see if you can install it. To enter manual mode, tap on the icon located in the bottom-right corner of the screen that has the word ‘auto’ inside a camera. In this mode, you can manually control ISO, shutter, white balance, resolution/frames per second , and check the SD available storage. The DJI Fly app has more visual options than we can see at first glance. Tapping on the icons on the top right of the screen gives us additional information. For example, if you tap on the battery percentage, it will tell you how much time remains until the aircraft returns to home automatically, until forced landing, or until the battery is fully depleted. As the world of technology changes so fast, it can be difficult to keep up with the requirements to be able to fly your drones without encountering stuttering issues in the Fly app.
