The Carbon

Another factor that plays into its poor legibility is that this particular Mudmaster uses a negative display for the digital readout. It’s hard to use any of the functions during the day much less the night. However, while you might think that anything that keeps out water would easily be able to prevent mud ingress as well, the small particles in mud and dust present challenges of their own. These “mud-resistant” watches use a special “filter” behind the buttons and a steel case back covered by a layer of plastic resin. In testing, mud didn’t seem to hurt the watch’s functions at all, but it is hard to completely clean from the many nooks, crannies, and facets of the Mudmaster’s complex case. In addition to offering shock resistance, the watch is constructed for mud resistance and is ready to withstand working amid mud and rubble.

The compass incorporated into this watch is obviously useful for an outdoor watch. The compass is, as mentioned, accessed by using the top right button. Once the compass is activated, you can read the bearing via the screen and the north indicated with the second hand. The thermometer of this watch simply indicates the temperature where you are. To access this, you use the thermometer button which is the left lower button to get the sub-second to move to the temperature position.

Keep in mind that if you are wearing the watch on the wrist, the indicator might not be completely accurate since your wrist radiates heat. Once you have gotten the sub-dial into the correct position, the temperature will be indicated baby g shock on the LCD screen. The watch has both an analog display and a digital LCS screen in order to display all of the information and data. Around the outer edge of the dial, it has abbreviations of cities for the world timer.

Although I didn’t manage to damage it I feel like over time this may end up being the most scruffy part of the watch. I would actually prefer if this buckle was a tough resin or if the metal was PVD coated or finished in a non glossy brushed finish instead. Firstly the lume on the hands should extend to the numbers on the dial too or at the very least an extra single lume dot at the 12 position. This means that in the pitch dark you know ‘which way up’ the watch is and more importantly don’t read the watch with a slightly crooked wrist and inaccurately guess which hour it is.

The G-Shock collection from Casio doesn’t need much of an introduction. It’s tough, durable, and made to handle virtually any harsh conditions you may subject it to. Finally I’m aware that the Bluetooth connectivity is fantastic but it comes at a significant drain to power.

Carbon Core Guard structureThis new shock resistant structure protects modules with a carbon fiber reinforced resin case. The band surface is processed to resemble a cloth band texture, and the hour and minute hands are shaped with points that make them resemble warning markers. All buttons have a checkered surface for surer operation, and the overall design is tough and rugged. Designed for strength and functionality to survive the extremes, G-Shock‘s incredibly robust Mudmaster is quickly becoming one of the brand’s most sought-after piece. The Mudmaster lineup is designed and engineered for those who work in extreme environments scattered with rubble, dirt, and debris.

For those who want to take the toughness of the G-Shock one step further, Casio has developed the Mudmaster range within the G-Shock collection. These are made to be amongst the toughest watches you’ll be able to find. This is the ultimate outdoor watch that will handle virtually any situation you subject it to. The top coat is clear so you can see the weave of the carbon fiber through it. G-SHOCKS have a long legendary reputation amongst military personnel all round the world and its easy to see why. For me as a child of the late 70s and early 80s I can still remember my first CASIO watch and the joy the digital display and small night light it had.

The watch is packed with Casio innovations and technologies to prevent it from suffering direct shock; this includes internal components protected with urethane and suspended timekeeping modules inside the watch structure. Since its launch, G-SHOCK has continued to evolve, continuing to support on Mr. Ibe’s mantra “never, never give up”. The funny thing about this watch, g shock watch is that Casio doesn’t advertise the temperature selection on its wheel of functions. In fact, you probably wouldn’t know it even read the temperature if you didn’t read the instructions. The watch has not one, but two batteries, and neither of them are solar. This isn’t out of character for a G-Shock, but the Tough Solar tech does show up in G-Shocks at this price range.

When you hold the Mudmaster GG-B100 in your hand, you immediately want to start playing with it. That might have something to do with the six large, knurled-surface pushers around the case. The Mudmaster series is all about water/dust/mud protection, and the pushers have all been designed with that in mind. I really like having more versus fewer pushers on the case, as it means you can generally get to functionality faster. Note that you can connect a “Connected” G-Shock watch to your phone, and using the G-Shock app, you can adjust settings on the watch if you don’t feel like playing case pusher ballet.

Features showcasing toughness include Tough Movement, Smart Access Crown, Tough Movement and G-SHOCK’s legendary Shock & 200M Water Resistance. Stopwatch , Countdown Timer , Day/Date Display, and Full Auto Calendar and Mute Function. Case Size is a formidable 59.5mm H X 56.1mm W x 18mm D and comes in at 119g. The case is made of high-rigidity carbon material to protect against damage and deformation due to impact and other rough treatment, while metal button pipes ensure a tighter seal against the external environment. A filter further protects against the invasion of mud, for the high level of dust and mud resistance required when in severe environments. In addition, the dual back cover consists of a stainless steel panel back and an outer cover made of shock resistant fine resin embedded with glass fibers.
