G Shock Watches

Casio created a true masterpiece with this model, doing their best to make a G-Shock for people who are not content with what most would take as enough. It all comes down to whether you can be convinced to shell out the money for it. If you do, and make the purchase, you’ll be truly impressed with its capabilities. The backlighting lights up the whole display, making it really easy to read in low light, which is a feature overlooked in many G-Shock models.

And that’s what Casio did with this watch, they wrapped the functions in a light, tough, all-black G-Shock watch, that’s also cool looking. Other specialized features that the watch has are the moon phase and tide graph, plus the dive time and surface interval measurement. It also has the other functions a normal G-Shock has, like a 1/100-second stopwatch with several modes, alarms, battery power indicator, power saving mode, and world time. The Frogman is solar powered, which makes it a virtually maintenance-free watch.

It was a frustrating process of trial and error that even had Kikuo Ibe considering resigning from his position if he couldn’t devise a solution. He ultimately persevered and found the answer by fate when he walked outside of the testing facility and saw a child playing with rubber ball. It suddenly came to him– if he could suspend the internal mechanisms of the watch inside the hollow ball, it would experience far less impact than the exterior of the ball. Press the MODE button as many times as needed until the day of the week and time are displayed.

G-Shock is a brand of watches manufactured by Casio, which is designed to resist mechanical shocks and vibrations. They are primarily designed for sports, military and outdoor-oriented activities. G-SHOCK watches have a distinct style, and nearly all have some kind of stopwatch feature, countdown time, and light and water resistance. A good feature is the cascading countdown timer that alternates between two defined intervals. The watch also has 4 daily alarms and 1 snooze; 1/100th-second stopwatch; 12/24 hr formats; full auto EL Backlight with afterglow, very good in the dark.

I have a Casio G – Shock DW6600 but the pushbutton for the light is gone. The simple and confident looking GW has an easily accessible EL backlight button on the front of the case, which makes it a good choice for those operating in the dark. The DW6900-1V is a more affordable option with the same case, but it lacks Tough Solar, Multi-Band 6, and world g shock protection time. The GW6900 descends from the DW6600, which was the first G-Shock with an EL backlight and was issued to Navy SEALS. Unlike jeans and underwear, there’s really not a whole lot that separates women’s and men’s watches aside from their size. In the case of this “Baby G,” you get all of the good stuff about a G-Shock in a slightly less bulky package.

The world time feature is perfect for the traveling person who needs to quickly switch time to wherever they are. The watch stores 48 different cities to select from, in 31 time g shock protection zones. Our complete guide of G-Shock watches includes Solar Powered G-Shocks. If you see Tough Solar option or tag #G-Shock-Solar — it means that the watch is Solar Powered.
