Greenworks Lawn Tools: Greenworks PRO 26″ 60V Battery Cordless Hedge Trimmer

Easy to Switch Between Different Functions – You can mulch, bag or side discharge your clippings with the Greenworks Pro 80V, which is handy. But most importantly, it’s super simple and fast to switch between these different options. So whether you want to collect your clippings or mulch them and leave them on your lawn to feed it, this mower has you covered.

Due to its larger rear wheels, easy start and quiet motor, the Greenworks Pro 60V Cordless 21″ Self-Propelled Brushless Lawn Mower is a joy to use, despite a couple of quirks mentioned earlier. I expect the steel deck to hold up under punishing use for years. Now I just have to purchase an extra battery to handle my large backyard. The handle houses a “Turbo-Mode” button, self-propelled drive-speed lever, and a battery life indicator so you’ll always know how much battery life is left. If you’re using two batteries, the mower will completely deplete one and then automatically switch to the other rather than use both simultaneously.

Start by scanning the QR code on your quick start guide, download the app, create an account if you don’t already have one, and pair the mower using the serial number and pairing code. It sounds more complicated than it is and takes less than 10 minutes to get started. There’s a step-by-step guide in the manual if you need more details. Based on the deck size and what speed you’re able to run , Greenworks’ estimate of 2 acres is on point and some folks might even be able to cut a little more than that.

Even worse, the propelling option stalls the mower out when you try to stop and turn it, and it the effect continues for a couple seconds after you disengage the lever. This makes turning the mower very difficult and annoying when also using the propelled feature. But one disconcerting part of the Pro’s performance is that self-propelling feature. In theory, it works just like a gas mower’s version, with a sliding panel of rabbit-to-turtle speeds and an extra lever to activate. The battery did take extra time to charge, due to its size and capabilities. It can provide 1-2 hours of cutting power, and generally showed better power upkeep than other batteries, with less fading away over time.

With the Greeworks Optimow 50H Robotic Lawn Mower, you can have a perfectly groomed lawn without breaking a sweat. It takes some effort to install the perimeter wire, but once everything is set up you can sit back and let the mower take over. The Optimow performed admirably in our tests and its mobile app makes it easy to create custom day or night schedules. That said, you’ll have to eventually pay for a cellular plan to continue using the app because the mower doesn’t offer Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connectivity. For a few hundred dollars less, our Editors’ Choice winner for robotic lawn mowers, the Worx Landroid M 20V, uses Wi-Fi to let you control it from just about anywhere and offers lots of onboard controls.

The Greenworks 60V PRO Cordless Chainsaw is a great option for homeowners looking for a saw to clean up yard brush, downed trees, and normal yard work. While a cordless saw might not be a great option for cutting large quantities of firewood, they are an excellent choice for occasional use. So if you’re looking for a chainsaw for your yard, one with a decent capacity, the 16″ 60V PRO from Greenworks is a great choice.

That said, it lacks the onboard controls and Wi-Fi connectivity that you get with our Editors’ Choice winner, the $999 Worx Landroid M 20V Cordless Robotic Lawn Mower . Right out of the gate we wanted to test the performance of this lawnmower. Having already tested the commercial model, we wanted to understand what translated to the consumer version. When you have larger blades nearly 24-inches across, you need a solid brushless motor to make it all work. Currently, no other manufacturers make a battery-powered consumer model with a deck this wide.

But compared to most gas lawn mowers, the Greenworks GLM is much lighter, and consequently easier to push and manage. It provides a smooth, clean lawn cut with the ideal 21-inch cutting width, and the battery is quite responsive. However, there is a glaring omission in this mower – there’s no safety key. You have to physically take the battery out if you want to make sure the motor can’t turn on with an accidental button press. Greenworks shook up the battery-powered OPE market with its 25-inch commercial mower a while back. Now they have a 60V version for homeowners and it has some updates for this season.

Plan your mowing pattern to avoid discharge of material toward roads, sidewalks, bystanders, and the like. Also, avoid discharging material against walls or obstructions, which may cause discharged material to ricochet back toward the operator. Always wear safety glasses or safety goggles during operation and while performing an adjustment or repair to protect your eyes. Thrown objects that ricochet can cause serious injury to the eyes. Always use a face or dust mask if the operation is dusty.
