I was able to trim around chain link fences, edge sidewalks and cut through the toughest grass and even thin branches that crop up in my yard around trees. You might think that almost all trimmers do this trick and you would be correct, But not all trimmers are this quiet and vibration-free. In fact, I when I began using it, I worried if it was operating at full power because it was so quiet.

Just slide the battery into place and start trimming.
Anyway I can edge the whole property and trim all I need to (around the house – front landscaping – etc) all on one battery charge. Yes I admit if you had more you might want to invest in another battery and they aren’t cheap. I think battery powered stuff is great for people that don’t know how or want to properly maintain gas powered equipment. I think you pay more for that convenience.

No more loud noise and smelling like fumes. It’s a good company that has well designed tools and great warranties. Typical work around that’s recommended, if time is an issue is to drop off unit for warranty service, buy temporary replacement tool.
We also felt less vibration in this model compared to most others. It’s easy on the hands, and even after hours of use, we didn’t feel our hands go numb as they do with some other models. Instead of taking apart the head—or even winding it manually—you simply feed the 0.095″ line through one of the holes and pull it out the other end. Then, you pull the ends even so that the line centers up. As you hold down the button on the back of the motor, the Powerload head ratchets the line up evenly.
However, I do have an area that I had let become overgrown and had not touched it the past 2 summers. I decided to put the EGO trimmer to the test, but I did not expect it to have enough power to handle this area. The trimmer did not back down from this challenge, I run my weed eaters pretty hard and this trimmer tore through the weeds quickly and effectively. I recommend this trimmer, but I would have to say it is a good idea to get the 5ah battery or have a second battery on hand. I bought the trimmer and leaf blower both with batteries so I can have a spare.
Finally, I found a trimmer that I actually enjoy using! It does an amazing job, the string doesn’t break off easily, the powerload works simply, the engine is quiet and powerful, and the battery lasts for the entire job. I use it to edge and trim a 2/3 acre yard with sidewalks, fencing, mulch beds, and street curbs. I plan to purchase other Ego products and reuse this powerful battery.
