With an MSRP of $269, the Weber Q 2200 Gas Grill is definitely one of the more expensive portable gas grills you can buy. However, it’s also one of the largest and most powerful on the market. Given its extremely sturdy construction and large cooking surface, I think it’s a worthwhile purchase for anyone who regularly grills on the go—or those looking for a simple yet capable grill for their yard.
When it comes to other items such as roasts or ribs, you may find that the lid is a little too shallow and the cooking area is just a bit too small. But even understanding the reasons behind the weight does not benefit this grill’s portability. Again, considering this grill against all other tabletop models in this review, the Q 1200 “packs down” to a less-than-reasonable 3.2 cubic-feet.
The LP model comes with an adaptor hose to connect to a 20lb propane tank. The natural gas model includes a hose and fittings to connect to a barbecue service line, should you have one. The smallest of the Weber Q models, these grills are hard to beat when combining quality with portability. Perfect for small families wanting to barbecue at the beach or the park. Fantastic for tailgating or to use on your next camping trip. As with all the Q’s, they are easy to clean with their smooth lines and removable drip pan.

Not changed is the 189 square inches of cooking space offered, push button ignition, infinite control burner value, cast aluminum lid and body and a glass-reinforced nylon body. The 1200 is our favorite portable grill for efficient meals. An easy-to-read, integrated thermometer helps you accurately track temperature, and fold-out side tables offer plenty of space for your BBQ tools. While its weight and lack of latching lid make it less than ideal for carrying into remote picnic sites, the Weber Q 1200 is the ideal companion for road tripping and car-camping.
The pan is made from lightweight metal and has a recessed area in the center to hold a disposable tin. It’s supposed to slide in underneath the grill body, but the pan that came with my grill was the tiniest bit too big and wouldn’t slide into the grooves. I tried everything I could think of—rotating it, bending it, putting it in from the other side—and it simply wouldn’t fit.
