Most Calphalon cookware also features three layers, but their high-end and most expensive collection, Calphalon Signature , features 5-ply construction, steel, three layers of aluminum, steel. The Hamilton Beach Portable 6-Quart Slow Cooker is one of the best if you are looking to stay on a budget. This programmable slow cooker has three different settings — program, manual and probe — which gives you many options when using the appliance. While the Hamilton Beach took a little longer to get up to temperature than some of the more expensive models we tested, that didn’t impact our test meals, which were perfectly cooked.

The light-colored interiors of most enameled cast-iron products can darken slightly with use, but you can remove stains by scrubbing with a baking soda paste or soaking in a light bleach solution for a few hours.

But this oven is larger and heavier, with small handles that are harder to grab, and you might get similar results by simply using a larger Lodge Dutch oven. If the enamel develops large chips or cracks that expose the cast iron below, it may be time to replace your oven. The bottom of the Lodge has a slightly curved surface compared with Le Creuset’s oven. The base is an inch smaller than that on Le Creuset’s oven, so you have a little less room to brown meat if you’re cooking in large batches. The enamel finish on the Lodge was smooth and even, and it has remained intact over several rounds of testing and years of long-term use in our test kitchen. By comparison, the enamel on both the bottom and the handle of the Milo Classic Dutch Oven we tested chipped after just a few washes, and we noticed that the surface was pitted in a few places.

While Cuisinart’s higher-end collections cost about the same as Calphalon, they also offer very low-cost options made with cheaper materials, such as standard aluminum. Although it depends on which collections you compare, in general, Calphalon cookware is more expensive than Cuisinart cookware. One of the most significant differences between Calphalon and Cuisinart cookware is price. Of course, if that were to happen, you could certainly return the product for a replacement.
