Weber Genesis II 335 Review 2023 Grill Without Limits

This was the bbq I wanted so badly and was given it as my 40th birthday gift from my closest friends. The heat is terribly inconsistent and the grilling is quite poor. As an oven for slow cooking, it’s great but fails miserably as a grilling bbq. I’ve gone out and purchased another Weber Kettle just for grilling and keep this under cover if I ever want to slow cook.

It is designed to deliver heat to the searing rack quickly to give you those meat sear marks. This means that you can store your tong, forks, and other tools. You will not have to put them on the floor or close to the grill.

The Genesis II E-310 is iGrill 3-ready, featuring a mounting point for the app-driven, multi-probe thermometer. Weber is a name known throughout the barbecue world from novices to pitmasters. But there’s more than just name recognition — there’s portable bbq trust in the brand that keeps people buying Webers over and over. Combustion by-products produced when using this product contain chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.

It matches the Weber Genesis 310 in terms of cooking area, and can easily house up to 25 burgers for your family and friends. Make sure to get one of the best grill tongs to help keep you safe while you’re grilling. I draped the ribs across the Genesis II’s metal warming tray that sits above the grill grates. Finally I dialed all three burner knobs down to their lowest setting and closed the lid. I cooked two racks this way; the first I ran for 3 hours, the second for 3 hours 30 minutes.

It even has a fuel monitor that you can check at the display on the grill or in the Weber Connect app. One of the other bothersome things about this grill is that assembly is difficult compared to other grills, similar to the Stok Quattro. It comes with instructions, but you’ll definitely need a spare afternoon to assemble it properly.

They went all out for it, which is why it is understandable that it costs so much but that doesn’t mean most people easily afford it. Apart from that, the S-435 grill is compatible with the Weber iGrill 3 app. This app can take readings from up to 4 meat probes and allows you to monitor the grilling process remotely from start to finish. Straight out of the box, it’s clear that this grill means business. It comes with a presence right from the moment you meet it.

On both the CharBroil SmartChef and Weber Genesis II, the ribs were too thin to shield their probes from ambient hot air under the lid. As a result I fell back to cooking by time instead of hitting a target thermometer reading. Both grills turned in slightly underdone ribs after a 3-hour cook, so I bumped the time up another 30 minutes for round two.

Not only is it cheaper than the Napoleon LEX gas grill, but it also has a few distinctive features. All the management of such a powerful machine is directly vested in your hands. That is different from standard grills, where one switch powers everything up and what you get is what you get. With this grill, you can control specific areas to cook meats at a different temperature from veggies.

The Weber Genesis II E-310 is among just a few backyard grills that support smart technology. Weber didn’t create this tech on its own — it acquired the iGrill brand from iDevices, a line of Bluetooth, app-connected thermometers, including the $50 iGrill Mini. Grill companies are starting to get the hang of better searing capabilities, even adding little “sear burners” for the task.

On the grill grate of the three-burner model I tested, which is just over 500 square inches, that’s probably enough space to cook for a family of four, but not much more than that. The Spirit line serves as a more introductory line and the grills feature 32,000 BTUs per hour as their normal operating specs. The Genesis line feature the PureBlu burners to ensure even and efficient heating throughout the cooking space. The Genesis line also has models with an upgraded 13,000 BTUs per hour sear station, larger than before for searing more steaks at once. Weber rolled out their “biggest gas grilling innovation in 15 years” with the 2022 Genesis line, incorporating more technology and features than ever before.
